White Birch

Linda's voice:

Late afternoon sunlight, low in the sky, casts lifelike shadows on the papery bark of the white birches, emphasizing their quiet strength. As children, we loved this tree. We used its bark to write letters to each other and fashioned miniature canoes that we floated on small winding streams, in which our imagination transported us on exciting adventures.
Today, if I allow my imagination to play again, I can still touch the child within me.
